Homemade Facials!

Happy Sunday everyone! Since tomorrow is Monday and the start of yet another work week, we want you to spend today relaxing!

We have a few recipes to share for homemade face masks. These masks are made with simple ingredients that may already be in your home or at the grocery store for a low price! Who says that you have to go to the spa for some relaxation and a facial?

Dry Skin Mask

Avocado Honey Mask

– Avocado and honey are two extremely moisturizing ingredients that will help soothe and replenish dry skin. It is best to use ripe avocados and organic honey to ensure the most natural of ingredients.

1/2 an avocado

1/4 cup of honey

1) Mash up the avocado in a bowl

2) Mix in the honey

3) Apply to skin for 10 minutes then rinse off with a cool washcloth or cool water

* we recommend using this mask twice a week if your skin is very dry

Oily, Acne-Prone Skin Mask

Strawberry Face Mask

– Strawberries are a natural source of salicylic acid which can be found in most acne treatments.

1/4 cup of strawberries (fresh, not frozen)

1/4 cup of non-flavored yogurt (Greek yogurt is our personal favorite!)

1) Mash up strawberries in a bowl

2) Mash in the yogurt

3) Spread on face for 10-15 minutes then wash off with tepid water

*we recommend using this mask 2-3 times a week if you have oily, acne-prone skin

Mask for All Skin Types

Oatmeal and Yogurt Face Mask

– Oatmeal has anti-inflammatory properties and is compatible with most skin types, even the sensitive ones. This mask will rejuvenate and cleanse your skin.

1 tbsp of oatmeal, finely ground

1 tbsp of unflavored, plain yogurt

a few drops of honey

1) Mix the yogurt and oatmeal together in a small bowl

2) Warm a few drops of honey by running a spoon under hot water to heat it up, then put the drops of honey on the heated spoon

3) Stir in the honey to the yogurt and oatmeal mixture

4) Apply the mask to your face for 10 minutes then rinse off with warm water

* we recommend using this mask once a week for people with any skin type

Natural Skin Brightening Recipe

1 tbsp tumeric powder

1 cup of unflavored, plain yogurt

1) Mix together turmeric and yogurt

2) Coat face with mixture and leave on for 5-10 minutes then rinse off

The finishing touch to all these masks are cold cucumber slices for your eyes. Stick a cucumber in the refrigerator so it gets chilled, slice two pieces off and lay them on your eyes. The coolness of the cucumber will aid in de-puffing and brightening your eye area to make you look well-rested.

Try out these recipes and let us know how they worked for you! Have a wonderful relaxing Sunday!
